Job Title: Solicitor
Team / Location: Technical Team, Bradford
Reports to: Senior Legal Advisor
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (09.00 - 17.00) – 1 hour for lunch (some flexibility may be required according to workloads)
Salary: Market rate
Date: June 2010

1 JOB PURPOSE

Running own caseload, working predominantly for large banks and finance clients. Effective and professional handling of client instructions as well as assisting with providing high quality know how and legal support to other departments together with business development activity.

2 DIMENSIONS

  • Reporting to Senior Legal Advisor
  • Working within a team of 26
  • Having targets to work to
  • Based in Bradford on a day to day basis though travelling to clients, events and attendance at court will be required

3 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Running a caseload of technical and defended cases which will include:
  • Dealing with all aspects of the case including, where appropriate, advocacy
  • Liaising with clients
  • Instructing counsel where appropriate
  • Ensuring the client’s objectives are met
  • Dealing with in house counsel
  • Assisting with the delivery of internal and client training
  • Assisting with providing technical legal support to other departments
  • Working with the executive team and Senior Legal Advisors in relation to business development activities

5 TECHNICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ideally 1 to 5 years PQE, though more qualified solicitors will be considered or FILEX qualified
  • Experience of either:
  • Defended repossessions and/or Mortgage fraud and/or professional negligence and/or general debt recovery experience preferred

Or;

  • Undertaking title defect/rectification work, title reconstitution, Mortgage fraud and/or professional negligence and/or general mortgage debt recovery experience preferred
  • General litigation experience working for banking / financial institutions an advantage
  • Competence in the use of MS Word and Excel
